Pompidou Centre to open in Malaga

The mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, has announced this morning that the Pompidou Centre will open an offshoot in the Muelle Uno marina.

The new cultural centre will occupy an already existing glass structure, known as El Cubo, on a prime corner site in the waterfront development. The initial agreement, which is for five years, allows the Malaga location to display 70 works from the Paris museum’s permanent collection as well as a temporary exhibition that will change on an annual basis. Work will start in 2014 to get the building ready to open in 2015.
