Be Mate – a new short-stay apartment rental concept from the man behind Room Mate hotels

Kike Sarasola, the entrepreneur who founded Room Mate hotels, has just unveiled his latest project: Be Mate. This is an apartment rental site for holiday and business stays, but of course, with Sarasola behind it, there is something a bit different. The apartments belong to individuals, but the idea is to offer guests the services they would get at a hotel, such as 24-hour concierge, delivery and collection of keys, luggage storage, a well-stocked fridge on arrival, airport transfers and more. Sarasola has cherrypicked different elements of what you would get at a serviced apartment, an Airbnb rental or a hotel to create a new accommodation option that will suit the way a lot of people travel these days
The apartments are all stylish and are inspected out and approved before appearing on the Be Mate site, which has gone live today with 2,500 apartments in Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Granada and Salamanca in Spain, as well as Amsterdam, Florence, New York, Miami and Mexico City – all places where there are Room Mate hotels, which is providing the extra services. Prices look similar to other apartment rental sites – from around €65 a night in Madrid. I’m not entirely sure how this is going to work but it sounds like a great idea and I’m going to give it a whirl as soon I can.
