Yesterday it was announced that the regulations for wearing masks in Catalunya were being tightened up and from today everyone has to wear one in all public spaces, even when social distancing is not a problem. Now this is going to be the rule in the Balearic Islands from Monday, July 13th, as well, for tourists as well as residents. There is a €100 fine for not wearing one.
The only exceptions are on the beach or at swimming pools, or while doing sport or exercise, including in the sea. Masks do not have to be worn in the workplace except in public areas.
Until now, masks have been mandatory indoors and also outside in situations where it is difficult to stick to the 1.5m social distancing rule.
If you are going to Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza or Formentera soon, bear in mind that you have to wear a mask when you sit at a pavement café, only removing it to eat and drink.
