I spend most of my time mooching around Spain, ostensibly researching articles for national newspapers and magazines, but really just sitting in cafes, reading the paper and drinking wine.
I write for The Daily and Sunday Telegraph and am the Spain expert at Telegraph Travel. I’ve also contributed to The Guardian and Observer, The Times, The Financial Times, The Sunday Times Travel Magazine, The Independent and Independent on Sunday, Conde Nast Traveller, Elle, Red, Living Spain & Time Out, among others. I’ve written the books National Geographic Traveler Madrid, Blue Guide Madrid, Blue Guide Barcelona and Art Shop Eat Barcelona. I’ve somehow won a few awards over the years, including Spain Travel Writer of the Year.

Really interesting stuff… but nothing on Charlton Athletic?
Hi Alex! Some things are definitely best left to the experts…
hey, this is great site!
Thanks! Did you read the post about our thrilling day in Consuegra?
Nice story about Aviles Annie – and particularly like the way you use a crocheted bonnet to evaluate the true character of a place! Nick
I’ve just found a new casa on the web for when I want to read about Spain. Olé.
Thanks Michel!
